The French international Bayern Munich made it a week ago, and should miss the next three games of his team: two Bundesliga games and the knockout round of the Champions League against Arsenal on February 19.
It must begin his rehabilitation at the end of the week and start running next week.
Unless complications, Ribery could find land on March 1 against Schalke 04 before facing Arsenal on March 19 eighth-final second leg of the Champions League.
